Spotlight Photographer and Guest Judge Amanda Jackson - Amanda Jackson Photography

Our spotlight photographer and guest judge this week is my personal friend and an amazing artist, Amanda Jackson of Amanda Jackson Photography. I interviewed her to find out more about her photography and where her passion lies. Check out her work on her website here or on her Facebook page!

The photographer :)

When did you begin doing photography? What was your inspiration?

I studied studio art as a minor in college, and have always been an artsy person…but I really started becoming interested in it after my son was born. I wanted to find a way to document our lives in a creative/artsy way…so here I am! :)

What equipment do you rock?

Nikon D600, Nikkor 85mm 1.8, Nikkor 50mm 1.4, Nikkor 70-200mm 2.8, Tokina 16-28mm 2.8 and my Nikkor 105mm macro.

How would you describe your photography style?

I would say it's a clean and modern twist on lifestyle photography. I don't like to pose my clients…I just like them to act like they normally do and stand how they normally stand. Comfort is my biggest thing! <3

What is your favorite subject?

Newborns. I absolutely LOVE getting to capture them in their first few days of life. AND…my son of course.

What is your favorite part of being a photographer?

I just love being able to catch that "moment" for everyone.

Do you have any photography idols? Who?

I try not to consume myself with the "big guys" if that makes sense. I want to find my own style…not conform to what everyone else is doing.

If you could do/be anything BESIDES a photographer, what would you do?

Wow…I haven't even THOUGHT about this in a longggg time. I would want to go back and work at Disney World (I used to work there) in their PR department (my major in college was Communication.)

Black and white, or color?

Depends on the photo. Probably color…just because that's how life really is…if that makes sense!

If you could describe your personality in three words, what would they be?

Outgoing, Loving, Comfy

Amanda will be guest judging our current weekly theme for our Project 52! This week's theme is "In & Out". If you're interested in submitting an image post it directly to my Facebook wall here or join our Flickr group for lots of fun! Thanks Amanda!

2/52 "Pink" Eye Candy - Week 3/52 Theme is "In & Out" - Maria B. Photo Shop - Practice Makes Better 52 Week Project

So here we are beginning week three of this 52 week project! This week's theme is "In & Out". Does that mean you take a photo inside? Outside? A photo looking into something from the outside? Or vice versa? Or maybe you take photos of your delicious cheeseburger at the fast food chain? (I kid, although, frankly I can't blame you if you do - those things are delicious!) Whatever the phrase means to you, take a picture of THAT. Then post it in our flickr group or on my Facebook page, cause we ALL wanna see it!

Now onto the eye candy! Last week's theme was "pink". Guest judge Krystal Covington of Krystal Clear Photography was happy to share her favorites alongside mine, and here they are below:

2/52 - "Pink" - EYE CANDY

Gorgeous!

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the project so far. It's so much fun to see the different takes on each week's theme and what comes out of each one! Stay tuned for another spotlight guest judge post and next week's eye candy post!

Thanks for stopping by!

Spotlight Photographer & Guest Judge for week 2/52 - Krystal Clear Photography - Photographer Krystal Covington

Today I'd like to introduce you to our guest judge for week 2/52 and spotlight photographer Krystal Covington of Krystal Clear Photography. I just adore Krystal's work and I'm happy to have her here helping me choose "Eye Candy" this week! (She's going to have a difficult job ahead!)

Check out Krystal's work on her website or Facebook page.

When did you begin doing photography? What was your inspiration?

I have enjoyed taking photos since I was a teenager. I loved taking photos on vacations and at school functions. I became serious about it when my husband bought me my first DSLR May of 2011. I decided I was going to learn how to use it and use it well so I could take good photos of my children. My inspiration was my children and my family.

What equipment do you rock?

Nikon D600, D700, Sigma 35mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8G.

How would you describe your photography style?

Clean and simple. I don't do a ton of props. I like to keep my main colors muted and neutral. I love sharp clear photos and I think my work shows that.

What is your favorite subject?

My children of course! Cooper my 9 month old is my favorite subject right now because he is a Mommy's boy and he smiles if you just say his name!

What is your favorite part of being a photographer?

Being able to document my children's lives with my camera.

If you could do/be anything BESIDES a photographer, what would you do?

Other than my other job as a Radiology Tech I don't really know. I think I have found my calling in photography so I can't really imagine doing anything else!

Black and white, or color?

Color. I lean towards color edits. I love a good black and white but they are few and far between for me,

If you could describe your personality in three words, what would they be?

Happy, determined, loving.

And the links to check out Krystal's work again are here: website or Facebook page.

The Everyday - Trip to the diner - Lifestyle Photographer - Syracuse, NY - Maria B. Photography

Because I've been feeling uninspired and just plain boring lately, I decided to just do what comes naturally to me - taking photos of my kid being his cute, adorable self. So here he is...

in black and white, of course.
