2014 Project 52 - Practice Makes Better - The Rules - Maria B. Photography Shop

Let's kick off this project with a little overview of the objectives and rules for participating!

First off, this week's theme is "Shadows". Images should be submitted by midnight PSD on Wednesday January 8th, 2014 to be considered for the Featured Image and Eye Candy post.

The objective of this project is to get better. This can mean whatever you want it to mean. Set your own goals for getting better. I encourage you to write them down.

Speaking of getting better at your craft, here are the rules for posting and participating:

1. You want to get better, so therefor please only include NEW photographs in order to participate. That means all photos must be taken in 2014. However, that is the only limitation. If you take an AMAZING "green" themed photograph, you may save it for the week of that theme. You just can't use an old photo from any previous years!

2. Post 1-2 of your favorite image for the week to the Flickr group or to my Facebook page by the end of that week in order to be considered for the featured image and eye candy for that theme.

3. You may POST AHEAD and BEHIND. If you start the project late - jump in! You may catch up with past weeks at your own pace. Please just label your images with the week and theme and an asterisks (one of these~~~> *) so that the judges and I don't get too confused!

You may also post AHEAD. If you know you will not have access to your computer or editing software (or whatever!) and want to still participate in the week and be considered for eye candy - POST AHEAD and as long as it's in before the deadline, you can still be considered. Please try to limit posting ahead and not more than 3 weeks ahead (or else it could get confusing!)

4. Please LABEL all your images. Please title images with the week (1/52 or Week 1) and the theme (Shadows, Blue, Glitter, etc). If you post two images please label the second image with a #2, or indicate in some way that you have more than one image in the pool. Both images will be eligible for the eye candy post, but only one can be chosen to be featured.

5. USE ONLY YOUR OWN IMAGES! (Yes, I am yelling.) Please! I am taking everyone at their word here. Please only post your OWN (that means taken with YOUR camera) work. Copyright infringement and plagurism is no joke! Please don't do it!

6. On ^ that note, please watermark your images. Even if you consider yourself an amateur. This will discourage dishonest and unknowing suspects from lifting your work from the web. (Or at least deter them.)

7. Please post, comment and share! Encourage others to continue the project by letting them know when you like their work, and we will return the favor!

8. The theme is a GUIDELINE only. Please use it to inspire your shooting for the week, but if you get stuck or feel inspired by something else - go with it! Please title your image to reflect that you went with your own theme by adding a note in your title or description, or just label it "Random" instead of the theme on the list.

8. Most importantly - have fun!

Those are the "rules" for the project 52 (I hope it's not too many!). We are seriously going to have an amazing collection of work by the end of the year, and I can't wait to go on this journey with you!
